When Windscreen wipers were first invented, it was to help the car driver to maintain his clear windshield without the need to stretch his hand outside of the car and clean the windscreen maually.

Almost anywhere that glass is located, so may you find Wiper blades. They are not just used on the front windscreen of an automobile, but often with hatchbacks are also attached to the back. Some automobiles also have Wiper blades on their headlamps. This is most effective for dirty roads, or in snowy weather conditions, where headlights could soon become much less effective without this fantastic invention.

Even jumbo jets have Windscreen wipers and I would think they require some of the best Wiper blades around. As they travel at such high speed and with huge temperature differences anything less than the best would soon perish.

Public transport, either buses, trams or trains, all have Windscreen wipers in order to help their drivers to see where they are going. Though trains are on rails, and so it may be thought “well why is it important for a train driver to see so well?” there are still signals along the line which the train operator needs to take notice of in order to ensure public safety. The driver also needs to be able to see when driving towards a station that the train stops correctly. Wiper blades, therefore, are most important for all types of public transport.

Scooters do not look to have Windscreen wipers and this is most likely due to the fact that not all motorbikes have windshields. Motorcyclists wear safety helmets with visors and they often also have a special rain visor, so the necessity for Wiper blades on a scooter is not as necessary as it would be for other types of transport.

The best wiper blades moving away from vehicles have personally got to be the ones used by window cleaners. How much easier it is to get a clean finish on home, office and shop windows by using Wiper blades than ever it was with newspaper and vinegar. I am not sure who first had the idea to move the Wiper blades away from the windscreen and used them on a window, but I admire their resourcefulness hugely. Streak-free windows are now much more easy to attain.

Small versions of Wiper blades are also available for use in the bathroom, on shower screens and tiles, in order to keep these clear and assist in the prevention of the build up of limescale.

This all just goes to show how one person’s idea of how to make life easier for a certain target market can in actual fact benefit many more people’s day to day chores over time.
