In the year 2011, Ford has got a lineup of five Ford SUV models. Those five models are the Edge, the Escape, the Expedition, the Explorer, and then the Flex. These models range between an MSRP of $21,020 (the Escape) to $35,585 (the Expedition).

Not a single one of those Ford SUV models is new to the list this year, having all appeared on Fords list in previous years. Most cost effective of those models is the Ford Escape, an excellent thrifty family option at a good price, with excellent gas mileage for the class – 23 miles per gallon within the city, and 28 on the highway.

A decade ago, 31 would be advertised on a four cylinder sedan, therefore this is a great deal! It is available in some models with better options and features, but as the features are added, so too does indeed the price move up. A hybrid model is also available, but the mileage does not change much considering that you could spend as much as $10,000 more for the particular model.

Next in the lineup, starting at $27,515 is the Ford Edge. Not much is lost when it comes to mileage when comparing the Ford Edge to the Escape, considering that the driver of the Edge will experience a far more powerful ride with an engine which pushes out roughly 100 more horsepower. Options and features will bring the price up considerably, depending on what you need and no hybrid model is offered here.

Thereafter we have the Ford Explorer, which offers some more inner room, and is a well-known model in the Ford lineup. Offering a similar price range and mileage to the Ford Edge, the experienced Ford shopper will take a look at both of these models before deciding for sure what they’d prefer to drive.

Newer to the Ford SUV lineup is the classy and luxurious Ford Flex – a car that has many former BMW, Lexus, and Acura drivers thinking twice about buying one of the traditional favorite luxury lines. Starting at a modest $29,200, the highly customizable Flex has got six different packages to meet even the requirements of the choosiest Ford customer.

At the top of the line is the car perfect for the large family, starting at $36,000 – the Ford Expedition. This car has a lot of room and a lot of power, and has eight different packages available. Another perennial favorite of Ford drivers, this car is sure to make returning Expedition drivers happy, and people new to the brand, and is definitely worth a spin behind the wheel.

Models come and go, but Ford has kept its SUV line strong with two long-running brands – the Expedition and the Explorer – while adding edgy and exciting new brands such as the Ford Escape hybrid, the Edge, and the Flex. Ford knows how to make a solid car and a happy customer, which is why anyone in the market for a flashy new SUV should take a look at a Ford dealership first.
