Many cars are purchased as a workhorse to get you around on your day-to-day errands but the people who obsess about their cars and have the spare income to buy a special cars for the weekends do so. These special cars can be anything from a MKI Golf to a Lamborghini Diablo and anything in between like a Ford Focus RS, as these are special to the individual although some will be special to most people. It could be that these cars are special as they were the motorcar that they dreamt about owning when they were teenager or they just saw them and fell in love. Either way, these cars are there to be admired and enjoyed by their owners. The majority of the time these cars are only there to be admired and will only be enjoyed when they are being driven, and will most likely only be taken out on sunny weekends, hence the saying weekend motorcar.
These cars are generally kept in immaculate condition with a constant washing and waxing even if the motorcar not was driven. If the smallest thing goes wrong with the motorcar it is immediately mended with the best quality parts and the best mechanic. Normally no mechanic is good enough so the work is carried out by the owners of the motorcar. They will spend hours and hours doing a 10 minute job to make sure it is done to the highest standard. This obsession with their cars can strain even the strongest of relationships, as the other person in the relationship feels like they come second to the motorcar, but notice I said other person because it is not always males that love their cars, a large amounts of females owners do as well.
I said before that these cars are treated to the best of everything, for example let’s consider their wiper blades. When people think of wiper blades, it is something that clears precipitationand dirt from the wind shield and when it is time to buy replacement wiper blades they always buy the inexpensive. But the people who worship their cars see wiper blades as a way of enhancing the look of these cars, and when they buy replacement wiper blades they buy the best wiper blades they can. The best wiper blades in the shops today are flat wiper blades. These are wiper blades that do not have a large metal frame and as a result they look sexy compared to the traditional metal framed wiper blades. The best flat wiper blades are made from silicone and not the traditional rubber that has been used for decades to make wiper blades; silicone wiper blades have many advantages over traditional rubber ones which make them ideal for these sorts of cars. Even though these cars are not being driven a lot the owners will often find that their wiper blades have deteriorated . This is commonlydue to damage by cold weather, UV rays, ozone and chemicals which are often used in windshield wash. With silicone replacement wiper blades you get a wiper blade that is resistant to the cold, UV rays, ozone and chemicals which means that even when the motorcar is in storage the wiper blades are not deteriorating and should be in good condition when you want to use the motorcar.

There are three types of GT cars. These are GT1, GT2 and GT3 and the following are all cars. Unlike LMP cars in endurance races, they have a similar shape to the cars you can buy from the car showroom. These GT cars are not based on the average cars you see on the streets, but on the top of the range sports cars, like Porsche 911’s, Aston Martin, and Ferrari’s. These types of cars are not cheap to buy and turning them into race winning cars can cost millions and millions of pounds. It would be extremely hard to go through all the design specifications of GT1, GT2 and GT3 types without writing a book, but here is short description of what is allowed in each type of GT cars.
GT1 cars are the fastest of all the GT types, these cars have to be based on production cars where at least 25 cars a year are sold. These cars are heavily adapted to turn them into race cars, and in this type teams are allowed to use exotic materials, the biggest wings, the biggest wheels and the biggest breaks. All of this makes GT1 cars, the fastest of all GT cars, and only their look of the cars and the wiper blades are the same as the original motor.
GT2 cars are very similar to GT1 cars, they also have to be based on production cars. However, they are not allowed to use expensive materials in the construction, the wings are also smaller as are the wheels and the brakes. This results in a heavier automobile with less aerodynamic and mechanical grip, which is therefore slower round a lap. These cars are however less costly to develop and run, making them a good alternative for teams with a smaller budget.
GT3 cars are basically road going cars that have had all the seats and other luxuries stripped out. Then the one race seat is added along with an FIA approved fuel tank, seat belts and safely cage. This is the cheapest type of GT cars to develop and run. All types of GT cars must remain road legal cars, this means that all the lights and wiper blades must all work after being race modified, although you would not be able to use these cars on the road without first putting on some road legal tyres, as slick racing tyres do not meet the minimum 1.6 mm legal requirements.
To be victories in any of the GT types it takes a lot of attention to detail and not one thing can be overlooked, just take the wiper blades for example. It is important to make sure the wiper blades are in operational condition, just in case it rains during the race, and replacement wiper blades will have to be fitted to the automobile regularly, maybe as often as once a race. The replacement wiper blades that are normally used are called flat wiper blades, these wiper blades could make the difference between victory and losing. How could you think this is possible, unless the race was wet and the flat wiper blades were necessary to enable the driver to see? But in a dry race the flat wiper blades could also make the difference and this is because of their frameless design, which is lays closer to the windscreen giving an aerodynamic advantage over classic wiper blades. This advantage may only be small but it’s all the small things that lead to race wins. The flat wiper blades can make the airflow over the windscreen smoother, resulting in a little bit more top speed, a bit more down force from the rear aerofoil and a bit of better fuel economy. All of which over famed wiper blades could make a lot of difference, and this difference could be the difference between victory and losing.

The majority of people have hobbies, and they tend to know lots about whatever it is they are interested in. Some people will be able to tell you everything they know about their most-watched TV show, or what emerging trends to keep an eye out for on the catwalk in the coming months. Others can recite the lyrics from their favourite songs without hesitation, and a lot will be able to tell you exactly what time it is, at various places around the globe.
There are however, many topics that a lot of people do not tend to know a lot about. One such topic is easy car maintenance. The explanations for this lack of knowledge are vast. A lot of people simply fail to take an interest in how their car works, and maybe even take for granted that it will start every time they go out in it. A few others depend on family or friends to help them with regard to keeping their car in check. A worrying few people are perhaps ignorant, and are blissfully unaware of the need to complete frequent checks on a car, to make sure it is functioning as it should be.
Even though when a person takes a driving exam, they are frequently required to identify how to switch the hazard lights on, how to check the tyres of the car are road legal, and how to top the washer bottle up and check the oil levels, many people soon forget how to do these basic things. This could be down to the happiness of suddenly being able to drive solo, or maybe when they drive another vehicle to the one they used for their driving exam they simply do not bother to familiarise themselves with it, and just want to get driving around.
A potential issue with not knowing how to maintain a car properly is the fact that it could be dangerous, and even lead to an crash. For example, if a vehicle’s tyres are so ruined that they have none or hardly any tread on them, they could blow out at any time whilst the vehicle is in use and this could potentially cause an accident. This is why it is so critical to know the basics of maintaining a vehicle.
It is useful to be aware of what sort and size of wiper blades a car is going to need, preferably before they begin to wear down, as then when it comes the time to buy new ones, there will be no confusion. There are a lot of different manufacturers of replacement wiper blades and so it can be hard to know which ones are worth purchasing. replacement wiper blades that are manufactured from rubber tend to not be as good as wiper blades manufactured from silicon. This is because rubber replacement wiper blades are not as resistant to extreme weather conditions, as silicon wiper blades.
Although silicon replacement wiper blades are a little more expensive to buy compared with rubber replacement wiper blades, they are worth the additional cash as not only do they last a lot longer, they also do not cause smudges on the windscreen when functioning, or miss sections of it out altogether. For cosmetic reasons, many people like to fit flat wiper blades to their car, as they can appear a lot neater and more trendy. A lot of people even think flat wiper blades fit the contours of windscreens a lot better, and as a result of this, flat wiper blades are popular with people who are conscious about their wiper blades not only looking trendy, but functioning well.

As the days start to get shorter and the light starts to dissolve it is a sign that summer is almost up and autumn and then winter will soon be upon us. As this time it is especially important to have wiper blade fastened to your motor which are in reasonable condition. The failing light is one reason for lame visibility but poorly maintained wiper blade are another and at least these can be solved. Things get even worse when the snow starts to fall and ice cloaks your wind screen in the mornings. The only recourse at times like these is to purchase some new top of the range wiper blade to help decrease the dangers part and parcel with driving in the winter. A direct hazard to the well being of your wiper blade in winter come from the salt and grit sprayed upon the roads. This forms an alkaline solution which erodes paint and metal and even the rubber on your wiper blades.
Grit also includes many tiny and very hard bits which will get caught under the replacement wiper blades and cause the rubber to be abrasively broken down or could even scratch your wind screen. Also at this time of year using things like anti-freeze in your washer fluid is an absolute obligation however even this will agency your rubber replacement wiper blades to degrade more rapidly. Salt and grit will get mixed up with snow and produce a thick dark screen on the wind screen which will obscure the driver’s vision and double the chance of having an accident. So if you want to sidestep trouble on the roads this year it would be a reasonable idea to give your wind screen a wipe down quickly with some warm water. Another thing you could consider is purchasing some new replacement wiper blades made from a more appropriate material. There are special winter replacement wiper blades found on the market which are made from a thick rubber sleeve which and steel which are made to remove heavy snow showers from the wind screen. A more understated and all round answer is to opt for some new windscreen wipers assembled from silicone instead.
Silicone has some amazing characteristics which will blow you away. When analogized to traditional rubber wipers they persist for twice as long and will not crap out in the heat or cold. You no doubt will have noticed by now that rubber wipers have the harassing habit of fixing solid to the wind screen. If you start them up in this way you risk burning out your electric motors or breaking the metal and plastic arms quite acutely. Well silicone wipers don’t adhere, just think of the bottom of a non stick pan and translate that to your wind screen. Silicone is even used in contact lenses due to this exact same property; it has a slippery quality which makes it perfect for use as a wipers component. Another nice property is on the flip side it doesn’t melt in summer as do regular wipers and will abide its integrity in trying conditions much better than basic wipers.

If you’re occupied in the business of wheel-alignment, the most important piece of shop equipment is the alignment lift. With an alignment lift, you are able to raise vehicles in order to examine the suspension and steering mechanisms, in addition to checking out the alignment.
An alignment lift increases efficiency for wheel alignment tasks because it has attributes that make tasks less tedious, such as slip plates and turn plates. Slip plates are necessary for projects involving independent rear suspensions, making it possible for these to descend to their normal ride height. Turn plates are used to inspect caster and toe-out when the wheels are turned to either side.
The turn plates must be perfectly flush with the ramps of the alignment lift, so that there are no bumps when the car rolls over them. Alignment systems equipped with a three dimensional camera and wheel-mounted targets require the automobile to roll back and forth to check for wheel run-out. This process is difficult to do if turn plates are causing bumps in the ramps.
When not in use, both the slip plates and turn plates must be locked to prevent them from turning. Manual locks are hard to use, but on alignment-type lifts, the locks are pneumatic. This means plates can be locked and released by the push of a button.
Turn plates made of stainless steel are the best kind, since they cannot corrode. You will also want to make sure the bearings are made of plastic, because plastic bearings are rust-proof.
Unlike other types of lifts, the alignment lift features a drive-on ramp, which means the wheels will be on the ramp at all times. This is a good thing when it comes to aligning wheels, because the full weight of the auto will rest on its suspension system. The wheels cannot be left dangling in mid-air!
Depending on what types of vehicles on which you will work, there are various lengths of drive-on ramps available. Drive-on ramps can be long enough and wide enough to hold small trucks and larger passenger cars or vans. If you choose an above-ground alignment lift, the ramps must be long enough that the end of a car or truck doesn’t scrape when moving on and off the ramp. Pickups with extended cabs require even longer ramps, unless you have a ramp extension.
These are all factors you must take a look at when choosing an alignment lift for your shop. Since an alignment lift is essential to do alignment work, it is important to decide wisely.
